Ashuwillticook Rail Trail In The Berkshires

The Ashuwillticook Rail Trail, known simply as “the rail trail” to Berkshire County residents, is a 10 foot wide, 11 mile long, paved multiuse  recreational trail that was built on a former rail corridor. The Ashuwillticook Rail Trail begins in Adams, MA and runs South parallel to Route 8 through Cheshire, MA terminating at the Berkshire Mall entrance in Lanesboro, MA.

Trout Stocking In The Berkshires 2015

As many of you are aware, spring trout stocking for the 2015 fishing season is already underway in Massachusetts. Trout stocking began in the Berkshires the week of March 30th, 2015 and according to the Department Of Fish And Game, will continue up until Memorial Day weekend. The official MassWildlife trout stocking schedule is updated each Friday and can be accessed by clicking here. Fishing Richmond Pond In Richmond Massachusetts

Richmond Pond is located in the Berkshires in the town of Richmond. Although the Richmond Pond shoreline is saturated with private residences as well as two summer camps, the public boat ramp which is located on Town Beach Road is an excellent location for public access. The 218 acre raised great pond has a maximum depth of 53 feet and can be fished from the shore as well as by boat.

Summer Deer Scouting

Summer deer scouting has been an oft-debated topic amongst deer hunters for generations. Some hunters feel that scouting for deer in the summer isn’t all that helpful as summer deer patterns will have changed by the fall. Other hunters however, are in favor of summer deer scouting as it offers an excellent opportunity to explore deer habitat well in advance of the hunting season. I personally  prefer to do my deer scouting in July and August so that I can pattern the deer early on which leaves enough time for my scent to clear out of the area that I intend to hunt well before deer season begins.

Fishing Stockbridge Bowl In Stockbridge Massachusetts


Stockbridge Bowl is located in the Berkshires in the town of Stockbridge just off of Route 183. The 372 acre water body has a maximum depth of approximately 48 feet and can be fished from the shore and by boat. Ice fishing is very popular on Stockbridge Bowl during the winter months. There is a lot of boat traffic on the lake during the summer months which makes fishing Stockbridge Bowl very difficult during this time of year. I’ve caught plenty of fish in Stockbridge Bowl throughout the years and thought that I would share some tips for fishing Stockbridge Bowl with you.
